Healthcare spending

One of the most frequently used aggregate values when presenting health expenditure is "Total Medical Consumption". Others are Current Healthcare Expenditure and Medical Care and Goods Consumption.

Total Medical Consumption (TMC) comprises 5 types of expenditure:
hospital care consumption
outpatient care consumption
consumption of medicinal products and other medical goods (including Medical Devices)
consumption of preventive medicine services
transport of the sick
The TMC per inhabitant reached €2,629 in 2007, meaning that on average each person in France spent:
€ 1,142 on hospital care
€ 709 on outpatient care
€ 675 on medical goods
€ 103 on transport and preventive medicine
