medical device covers a vast range of products.
Many projects aimed at working out a
European nomenclature are underway in the European Union.
However, in the course of negotiations conducted for several years by Snitem on pricing, legislation and European standards,
Snitem worked out (in 1994) with the help of experts from the Health Ministry, AFNOR the French standards association and GLEM (predecessor of GMED) an
index of equipment and products structured around the 18 representative sectors in the field.
This
list is far from being exhaustive but does constitute a
tool to help figure out the broad outlines and families of products in a complex and varied typology.
