The regulatory and administrative environment in which the Medical Device industry works has undergone profound changes over these past few years and these have resulted in a growing level of administrative and financial constraints for businesses in this sector.
At the same time, while health insurance accounts were gradually worsening, and the new rules to gain access to public and private procurement contracts were being set up, the authorities and organisations providing coverage stepped up the methods of regulation and means of control they had at their disposal.
In this increasingly complex situation, it is vital that our Industry be able to promote the place it holds in our healthcare system in dealings with its interlocutors, whether the authorities or institutions. Likewise it is essential, if it wants to be heard and taken notice of, that it be seen as a key, responsible player whose practices come within recognized ethical and deontological rules.
On the basis of this observation and this requirement, SNITEM's Board of Directors decided to strengthen the commitments, rules and duties which each company is obliged to subscribe to on joining SNITEM, by providing itself with a professional code of ethics charter. The Charter was approved unanimously by SNITEM's members at the Annual General Meeting in June 2003.
